WANTED FOR PLAYHOUSE
VOLUNTEERING Ihave been volunteering at the Heritage Playhouse since it's opening. My efforts have involved ushering, (flushing and cleaning up the bathroom), taking tickets at the door and selling tickets for the performance, (dealing with ALL the people who have recently visited the bank machine and only have 20 dollar bills and don't understand why I am short of change) and the concession, (dealing with the same people who still don't have change for that $20.......I wonder what happened to the change they got at the door???). Despite my complaints I love the various jobs and I continue to come back. I love dealing with the people who come to the playhouse, and it never ceases to amaze me that there are still people who have not been there
There is always something different on at the theatre; movies, plays, dances, musical performances and comedy shows. One of the perks of volunteering is I get to see as many of the performances as I want to. I do a lot of volunteering in the community and working at the Heritage Playhouse is my favourite. I meet and deal with a huge variety of people (a lot of them with $20 dollar bills!!) and I get to practise my social skills. I can't do the tasks when I am in a grumpy mood and smiling and being pleasant is a real bonus. I highly recommend volunteering at the playhouse; you won't be bored and the shows and social contact are added bonuses. Karen Careless |
