Press Release August 19th
Tim Horton’s, Gibsons Landing Heritage Society and youth performing artists
Working together to improve our community theatre
The Smile Cookie Campaign is a national fundraiser, started in 1996 to help the Hamilton Children’s Hospital in Ontario. Since 2015, it has become a major charity fundraiser for young performers on the Sunshine Coast.
Our local Gibsons Tim Horton’s chose Gibsons Landing Heritage Society as the recipient of this year’s charity fundraiser. They are raising funds with youth dancers and actors for the purchase of a Cyclorama (specialty stage background) and LED lighting equipment for Heritage Playhouse. From Saturday September 14th to Sunday September 23rd, Gibsons Tim Hortons’ customers have the opportunity to purchase a chocolate chunk smile cookie for $1. 100% of the proceeds goes to our community theatre.
Gibsons Landing Heritage Society, dancers and actors, family and friends will be pre-selling boxes of “Smile Cookies”, from August 24th to mid-September and out in full force delivering them to the community participants from Saturday September 14th to Sunday September 23rd. With the dedicated Tim Horton’s staff, Gibsons Landing Heritage Society, several coast dance studios, Driftwood Players/Driftwood Theatre School, parents and community supporters we are hoping to exceed our goal of selling 12,000 Cookies to pay for the cost of staging.
Fundraising for the arts is a challenge and we are extremely grateful to Klaus Fuerniss owner of Gibsons Tim Horton’s for his continued support of performing arts on the Sunshine Coast.
